Cinematography on Location
Independent film isn’t born in studios—it's whispered in dim bars, carved by stained-glass light in old churches, and found in tiny apartments where life actually happens. In this hands-on cinematography course, students will explore the art and technique of visual storytelling using real locations.
Each week, using Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Cameras, the class will meet at a new location and learn how to adapt lighting, composition, and camera movement to the unique challenges of the environment. Through guided exercises and on-set collaboration, students will gain practical experience in location scouting, scene blocking, and cinematic lighting design, developing the creative and technical skills needed to bring any space to life on screen.

Filmmakers don’t learn lighting from textbooks—they learn it by working with real lighting, real environments, and the challenges of practical locations.
